Various local festivals held all over the nation throughout the year are largely contributing to developing the local economy and activating tourism. Also, local festivals contribute to development of tourism industry by showing diversity and superiority of Korean culture to foreigners visiting Korea while improving the image of Korea.
After recent Korean Wave and K-Pop fever, the tourists from the whole world including Asia is showing interests in Korean festivals and 13 million foreign tourists visited Korea last year. In response, we arranged Korea Festival Contents Awards to help the local festivals develop into the world festival and encourage local governments and festivals.
Korea Festival Contents Awards were introduced in 2012 to secure competitiveness, improve local image, and enhance local brand value and the awards are given to each session (Festival Tourism, Festival Economy, Festival Contents, Festival Art/Tradition, Excellence Award for Festival Program Directing, Hall of Fame, Popularity Award for 3 Asian Festivals, Festival Director Award, Best Festival Contribution Award). | |
